Spend a relaxing afternoon exploring the process of painting with alcohol ink.
In this class you will learn about the medium, the different brands of ink, the paper
that works best with the medium, and how to create simple abstract and landscape
paintings. This will truly be a stress-free environment as we examine how the ink
flows and how to manipulate it for the effect you desire. Beginner (all supplies included).

In this class you will expand your knowledge of working with alcohol inks and discover various
painting techniques to create a more advanced look to your work. You will learn to go beyond
dropping or pouring the ink onto the Yupo paper. Pre-requisite – basic alcohol ink skills.

Mixed Media Mania – Carol Gradwohl - Monday and Tuesday, February 20, 21, 9:30-12:30 $78/$85/$92
Hold on tight, your creativity will explode! This is an uninhibited mixed media class. You will learn some embellishment and texturizing techniques and use of different objects. Students will create a fun and funky abstract work of art to take home. No experience necessary. No supplies needed.
Collaging Out of the Box – Sandy Stratil – Thursday and Friday, February 23, 24, 10:00-4:00 $101/$113/$120
Give your creativity a jump start by painting with paper. This two-day workshop will introduce students to collage using tissue paper, found objects/materials, and photo transfers. There will be demonstrations and discussions about composing with texture and color, gluing methods, photo transfers, and dyeing papers. Students will have plenty of time to work; they will complete at least one small collage and get ideas for many future projects. NOTE: Anyone is welcome to take this workshop, both those who have had it before and new students. No special experience is required. (1 hour lunch break)
Inkfinity/Advanced Alcohol Ink - Pam Griner - Wednesday, March 15, 11:30-2:30, 11:30-2:30 $39/$43/$46
This is the course many of you have been waiting for! You will be introduced to some new techniques and will learn how to improve some of the methods you have been using to paint with inks. We will explore the addition of other mediums (including Encaustic Wax) to your ink painting and truly broaden your ink horizons in this exciting and BOLD class! Advanced - Pre-requisite – Intermediate Alcohol Ink (paper included).
Silk Painting Introduction - Kathy Leuck – Wednesday and Thursday, March 22, 23, 9:30-12:30 $103/$110/$117
Each student will have a basic knowledge of how to use Dy-na-flow silk dyes by Jacquard and a Sumi brush to paint 2 habotai silk scarves. A short history of silk painting and silk will be discussed. Students will have written instructions on how to set their silk and care for it when it needs to be washed. A brief description of gutta and resists will be demonstrated as well as printing on silk with stamps and using Spectra Art Tissue paper to color silk. For the students in the 2 day workshop, we will stretch a piece of silk on a frame and learn to apply a gutta or resist before we paint.
Beginning Scratchboard – Emma Wilson – Tuesday, May 2, 10:00-2:00 - $46/$50/$53
If you've never tried scratchboard before – come give it a try. You will learn how to scratch away paint to indicate lines, light, and value using different common techniques such as hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, pointillism, contouring, and etching. Learn how to use the tools to get various effects. NO DRAWING SKILL REQUIRED! All Supplies will be included.
Intro to Encaustic Wax – Pam Griner – Thursday, May 18, 1:00 – 3:00 – $36/$38/$40
This will be a very basic class just to familiarize students with the medium. We will explore
several different techniques and tools for creating beautiful art using hot wax. The wax can
be used alone, over other mediums, or on various substrates. Space is limited - Supplies will

Mix It Up! – Carol Gradwohl, Wednesday and Thursday, May 24, 25, 10:30-3:00 $85/$95/$104
Students will learn how to make Citra Solv papers from National Geographic magazines. Students will practice using various techniques to create small art and different ways to embellish and create papers for future projects. On the second day students will learn how to create a collage using their Citra Solv papers and the instructor will demonstrate the use of resin to enhance your work with brilliance and luminosity. All levels.(30 minute lunch break).
